How would your life change? How would your relationships change? Would the quality of your lifemdash;and relationshipsmdash;be better or worse under a classless society? How so? What current American ideology or ideologies shaped your answers to these questions?
If I lived in a classless society, I guess I would not have to worry about money and I would be content because of the fact that no one would be poor in that respect. People would not be competing with each other on who could attain certain positions. I am wondering whether this would produce a positive outcome. Obviously people would lean towards jobs that interested them because they loved it, but what about the "dirty" jobs such as collecting the garbage? Who would do those? If everyone had the option of doing what they loved, I highly doubt that many people would want to have jobs like these. I guess people would learn pick up after themselves or Americans would have to abandon the idea that those jobs are unimportant. Another idea would be that maybe people would just stop caring about issues like work and would do whatever it is that they chose to do without taking into consideration the consequences that it would produce.
Social norms would change dramatically. Because a classless society would not have any form of hierarchy, it would produce a world that has no authorities. The only reason that we do have authoriities is to maintain order and reinforce what is considered right as well as to make sure deviance, the breaking of social norms does not occur. In a classless society, people would be able to accomplish whatever it is that they wanted because no jusification would be needed. This would lead to chaos in our society gradually, over a period of time.
The relationships that I have with people would change. Take professors for instance, I am willing to admit that at this point I donapos;t see myself as equal to them because they lead the class. They have authority and in most peopleapos;s views they deserve respect. This would change into perhaps seeing them more as a friend because the intimidation of authority would vanish and knowing that professors are living in similar conditions that I would make it easier to talk. It would provide a more comfortable setting when it came to learning because teaching would not exist. Learning would be extremley different in this society because there wouldnapos;t need to be a certain answer or a certain method in which to do things. Everyone would have their own way. Learning about peopleapos;s lives would be kind of dull because all the inequalities that each individual overcomes shapes who they are. This would affect the way in which social groups formed in a classless society. I feel that because everyone would have pretty much the same life in terms of power, wealth, and prestige, oppression would not exist in the way it does right now. Cultural differences would stand out incredibly. Social groups like the clubs at a college campus in order to produce a sense of identity and community would come up the most, while groups that join together because they feel the need to be defensive would diminish. This would lead to more awareness about culture and ethnicity and perhaps it would eliminate stereotypes because eventually eveyone in AMerica would grow to know an adequate amount of information of the melting pot which has formed. THis would produce acceptance of the cultures in the USA.
However, because inequalitites are the hardships that teach that life is not easy and that everything in it requires work. This would produce a loss of connection to the world around us because we would not be able to relate to other countries in terms of politics. It would be as if we were sheltered from the rest of thw world. In other words,
